The importance of a mentor

I have the unique privilege of having several very special people in my life who are my mentors. Each of my mentors have different backgrounds and expertise so they are able to provide me with diverse insight.

These people are invaluable in my life and I would encourage everyone to find at least one mentor.

I have four business minded mentors and a spiritual mentor. Yes I am completely spoiled, but all of these relationships have various degrees of formality. One mentor I meet with about every six weeks, another every couple of months and the other two mentors are there when I have questions and need advice.

In major decisions, I don’t proceed until I have the input from my mentors.

A few years ago I had the privilege of mentoring several teenagers. It was great to build a relationship with these young ladies and be a consistent and stable role model in their lives. It was so enjoyable to collaborate with them and make suggestions in problem solving and looking at their options. It was such a satisfying experience and I really enjoyed watching the ladies grow – even if at times it was baby steps. Anything that was moving forward was a time to celebrate.

I have also had the privilege of training a team on how to be volunteer mentors. What an amazing group of people. I certainly left the training day inspired by these people who were happy to devote some of their precious time in helping others.

I recently had a fairly confronting conversation with one of my mentors and this mentor really hit the nail on the head. She didn’t tell me what to do, but merely asked me a few questions to get me thinking, and think she certainly did make me. This conversation didn’t really feel that good at the time, but the next day I woke up inspired and ready to hit the ground running.

This is the power of a mentor – a bit of well timed guidance and wisdom can make all of the difference. A mentor doesn’t always provide solutions – but they can help guide you into discovering your own solutions. This is exactly what this person did for me and I am extremely grateful for the confrontation.

My suggestion is that everyone find at least one mentor in their life and mentor at least one person.

Why I use online marketing for my Herbalife business

I began using online marketing as I was tired of hitting up my friends and family to join in my business opportunity. I am a Herbalife Wellness Coach and get so much enjoyment from seeing people achieve their Wellness and Weight Loss Goals. Until recently my marketing has been focused on a very local area, and have known I need to expand into the global marketplace, so online marketing will be a great complimentary tool for me to generate people who also want the freedom to work from home and make a great income.

I want to be able to offer my team members the most efficient methods for growing their business as quickly as possible with the minimal time they have available.

I found a quote recently that summarises what I am trying to do each day. “The only busyness that works is meeting people, making sales and duplicating your efforts through recruiting, training and leading productive leaders.

Right now my focus is to help others grow their businesses and live the life of their dreams. I am not talking about a get rich quick scheme, I am talking about rewards for genuine effort that someone has made.

I am a mother of two young children, so right now my children and husband are the most important part of my journey. I need to be able to top up our income to make our budget balance and I so far have been doing this through the Herbalife Business Opportunity combined with online marketing. As I improve my online presence I hope to be able to start dreaming about the things we will be able to do as a family with the additional income.

I love the fact that I can connect with so many people in a global marketplace and help them to change their lives for the better. Using the Herbalife products will change your life. I lost over 10 kgs (over 26 lbs) and over 40 cms (over a 1 foot) in body fat from my body and felt amazing. The extra energy I had from not carrying this weight around was great for me chasing after a young toddler. At least once a week someone tells me how healthy and good I look and this is purely from using Herbalife.

I have a 4 month old boy and I used the products all the way through my pregnancy and nearly every day someone told me I looked great. I felt great too and really noticed the difference in the latter stages of pregnancy of not having an extra 10 kgs to carry around. As soon as my boy was born the weight has consistently dropped off – this is unusual considering I gained a heap of weight when I was breast feeding my daughter. So I am very happy about that.

So if you want to lose weight and earn some money please comment below and I will be happy to show you how to get started.

From the eyes of a three year old

This is a conversation I had with my daughter yesterday as I was breast feeding my 4 month old:

Daughter: Mummie I like your boobies.

Mummie: What is that?

Daughter: Because they are big.

Mummie: Why else do you like them?

Daughter: Because they fed me when I was a baby and now they feed Mr.

What an innocently priceless conversation and something I don’t miss out on because I work from home. It is funny moments like this that I get to treasure my beautiful girl and enjoy the freedom of knowing I am also helping the family financially through working from home.

Children learn lifeskills from observing you working from home

My three year old daughter has learned all sorts of work skills from observing me work from home. She knows what email is and she is very good at stamping promotional material (although it is sometimes crooked), but then if I did the stamping it is likely to end up crooked too.

She will sit beside me typing on her toy computer and talking on the phone and her understanding of what I do is amazing. She is always a willing helper and I have read numerous articles where children who grow up in homes where someone works from home end up as extremely capable of running their own businesses too from a young age.

She also understands the value of hard work. When we ask her to pick up her toys she says “But it is going to be hard work”. She knows it is way more fun getting the toys out than actually packing them away, but she will do the hard work of picking her toys up.

The great thing is that I can be a great parent and at the same time help my children achieve all of their dreams. I can arrange my working schedule so that I spend quality time with them and still achieve results at work. I absolutely love the independence and am truely living the life I want to live. www.livethelifeyouwanttolive.com

Baby poo horror stories

Well it seems one of the things that officially makes you a parent is a stomach curdling poo story about your child.

One evening we had about 12 people over for dinner and our young daughter had this beautiful white knitted overall set on. It was adorable until she did the biggest poo I had ever seen her do and what a mess it was. It was great fun trying to clean and change and get her all sorted with so many people over for dinner.

Now my son is heaps younger when he was only a couple of weeks old I took him to a three year olds birthday party (one my daughter was attending) as I had to feed him. Something went wrong with his nappy/diaper and at the end of the feed I was absolutely soaked with wee. So I had to sit at the party until it finished looking liked I had wet my pants. It was rather funny.

Also, when he was very young I was changing him in the middle of the night and he did an explosive poo all over me – as he did it when I lifted his bottom to wipe it as I was changing him. It was the middle of the night, so I finished changing him and then went and changed all of my clothes. I was so asleep I didn’t even look at the mess.

So the next progression after nappies/diapers is toilet training. I think this is another whole blog in itself – so stay tuned.

If you want to learn how I work from home at the same time as I delight in changing nappies/diapers then please go to www.livethelifeyouwanttolive.com and enter your information and I will be in contact.

If you are keen to share your poo stories, please comment on this post – I would love to giggle with you!

The effectiveness of Samples – change in your life

I recently attended an expo where I was given a very generous bag of goodies that were very appropriate to me in my journey. The goodies bag wasn’t just full of paper, it actually had things in it that I could use. This was a few weeks ago and I have used nearly all of my samples.

I was grocery shopping the other night and it was time for me to buy my one of the items I had used from the sample pack. I stood at the grocery shop and price compared my normal brand to the sample brand and I decided to purchase the sample product.

Why did I do this – well the sample product better met my needs and was actually cheaper than my normal product. I would never have changed brands, but experiencing the other product was effective in changing my mind.

As humans we don’t like to change, so we tend to buy the same items just because they are familiar and feel normal and safe. I have found that the best changes in my life have been ones that I haven’t had much choice and have had to make in my mind a temporary change that ends up being a permanent change. At the time I don’t particularly like it, but in the long run I realise the positive impact this change has made on my life.

Meal replacement shakes for some people mean that they would have to make a change in their lives. The change would be in their eating routine and also their willingness to lose weight.

What does it taste like is a common question I am asked and I am always more than willing to let the person try a few samples to see which flavour they like best. I also have a recipe book of different shakes and flavours that taste great.

The thing about Herbalife Shakes is that there is a whole research department who are constantly improving and ensuring the shakes have the most nutritional benefit possible. Each shake gives your body what it needs and I love this fact.

I also have a generous sample pack that I give to people that genuinely want to make a change in their lives. It is amazing to observe the positive responses I get from people when they taste the shake and this person realises that this potential change isn’t going to be as bad as they thought.

So the question I ask you, is how resistant to change are you? If I gave you a few free samples would you actually try them and then make a positive change in your life?

If so, please let me know by commenting below and I will be in contact with you.

Kartcher Addict – White as Snow through the blood of Jesus

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Observation:

I absolutely love Kartchering. I love the fact that as you use the high pressure hose you can see the dirt disappearing. We have heaps of red soil around our home, so our concrete is very red. It always reminds me of this verse as I Kartcher because the Kartcher is like Jesus, washing away the sin in my life and making it white as snow.

The interesting thing when I Kartcher is that some areas clean beautifully, and some seem to have a permanent red soil stain. This is just like our sin, we may be washed clean through the blood of Jesus, but a reminder of the consequences of our sin is still a part of our lives.

The funny thing about my Kartcher addiction is that we don’t even own a Kartcher. I borrow my Dad’s. This is like grace, we don’t deserve forgiveness, but through our Heavenly Father we are freely given it.

Application:

God’s forgiveness completely removes our sin and guilt, leaving us “white as snow”–innocent in God’s eye of any wrongdoing.

Just like my addiction to Kartchering and watching the dirt disappear so do I need to ensure I remain as pure as I can.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you that even though my sins are like scarlet, you wash me clean – white as snow.  Thank you for dying on the cross – so I may experience your grace in my life. I surrender everything in my life to you and thank you that you change and mold me every day.

Why don’t people respond to emails

Everyday my inbox is bombarded with emails and if I am honest I probably bombard people with emails from me too. I am an email person and it is great because I can appear professional even though my beautiful toddler might be singing Twinkle Twinkle little star in the background. The sound doesn’t come through on the email, thank goodness, even though I do love her singing.

When you read your emails, which ones do you read first? It is the personalized ones from friends that I tend to open first. It is the same when we open our mail; we save the bills until the end and open the personalized ones first.

So that is reading the emails, but in what order do you respond to emails? I tend to respond to the emails that will take me only a few seconds to type a response. I then progress onto emails that might take a bit longer or require me to research something. The ones I leave until last are the non personalized emails and the ones where I need to respond in a way that might be perceived as unfavorable by the receiver.

Email isn’t that personal and I am sure we all have stories of being offended by an email that has been sent to you – one of the main reasons for this is you lose the tone of the person who sent the email – so you have no idea of their body language etc – so you perceive this in the email and as we know, our perception is wrong and we take the email the wrong way and it all starts to hit the fan. At this point the best thing to do before getting upset is to pick up the phone and talk with the sender.

So I recently sent an email to a friend asking for advice on a matter fairly dear to me and it has been over a week and I have had no response. It wasn’t really a thing that could come back with an unfavorable response – I just wanted an opinion.

I know in the corporate arena I would send emails and if I didn’t get an immediate response, the answer was no. If I was asking someone to do something for me and I got no response it was frustrating. Even if I followed up with a phone call asking for a response – it still didn’t make any difference.

Is it that we are so bombarded with emails that we forget common courtesy? Is it that we are so busy, we end up deleting the emails that are too much effort to respond to? I don’t know the answer – I guess all I do is remember that we are all humans and connecting in a personal way if I don’t get a response through email is my next step. It doesn’t always work and I don’t always connect with the person, but I certainly try.

I would love your opinions and input on why you think we don’t respond to emails? Please comment below:

Changing people’s lives one day at a time

One of my daily goals is to make a difference in someone’s life. I have the privilege and thrill of being able to do this in my work from home business as a Wellness Coach. I help people achieve their weight loss and wellness goals and it is so exciting to see the positive change weight loss can have on people’s lives.

As a part of my work from home business I run Herbalife Community Weight Loss Challenges. They are 12 week challenges where the $49 participation fee forms the prize money for the top three achievers. So if there are 20 in the group then the prize money for first place is $490. So people who join get paid to lose weight.

One of my favourite parts of the the Weight Loss Challenge is when participants share what a difference the weight loss has made in their lives. Here are a few of their comments:

On the Weight loss challenge I lost 5 kgs and it was so encouraging to see the weight come off and the support from Philippa was fantastic.

I had a great experience with the Weight Loss Challenge. It helped give me the motivation and information I needed to get back in shape. I liked learning from each other, setting goals and having accountability each week.

I wasn’t sure about the Weight Loss Challenge – I am not good at losing weight, especially with a medical condition. I needed to lose weight for my health and to be a positive role model for my children.

I had a great experience with the weight loss challenge. It helped give me the motivation and information I needed to get back into shape. I liked working in a small group and learning from each other. Setting goals and having accountability each week was really helpful also. Overall, I am glad I participated and hope to continue with healthy eating and exercise. Thanks heaps Philippa!

Knowing I had to show up each week to be measured and report on my week. I was far more motivated to eat well and exercise. This really helped me lose weight.

This challenge is the initial part of ongoing weight loss. It helped get me started and now I feel empowered to continue on with a steady weight reduction program on my own.

I joined the Weight Loss Challenge to loose weight and be healthier. I have increased my exercising and stopped eating too much chocolate, bread and other unhealthy foods. I am more conscious of the foods I eat and make choices from guidelines we covered in the course.

It has been good to come every week and be accountable. Makes you think about what you eat during the week and hope for a weight loss when you hop on the scales. Some weeks have been a little disappointing – which makes me work hard the next week.

I have really enjoyed coming each week and thank Philippa for all her help and guidance. I have also enjoyed meeting new people.

I have tried many diets over the years. Sometimes I would be going really well for a couple of weeks and then I would get sick of it and give up. When I saw the story in the newspaper, I knew I had to sign up. If you know you are getting weighed each week, it gives you more incentive to do it. I have found it very rewarding and have managed to lose a few kilo’s. I was really worried about going on a holiday as I didn’t want to put on weight. I was very aware of what I ate and drank. I was really surprised when I weighed in and had lost 200 grams. Was rapt with that. I will be doing the next challenge. Can’t wait.

If you are interested in losing weight please go to www.sickofyoyodieting.com and fill in your information and I will be delighted to have a chat with you about your weight loss goals.

If you are interested in making a difference in other people’s lives then go to www.livethelifeyouwanttolive.com and give your information and I will be in contact soon.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
